Smithfield came to us with a vision: to make their recipes as irresistible as the flavors themselves. They wanted to connect with families in an authentic, interactive way — something that could live beyond the packaging and invite consumers to linger, explore, and create.
The Challenge
Smithfield’s recipes are a core part of their brand story, but in a crowded market, traditional formats weren’t enough. The challenge was simple but ambitious: transform familiar packaging into a portal for storytelling and inspire consumers to see Smithfield not just as a product, but as a partner in their kitchens.
The Approach
Apollo88 designed a tactile, three-dimensional digital cookbook experience. Through the Blippar app, scanning a Smithfield product revealed a glowing virtual book on a sleek tabletop. Users could swipe through beautifully designed recipe pages, discover new meal ideas, and interact with Smithfield’s content in a way that felt luxurious, playful, and alive. As lead designer, I built the visual system, crafted the immersive interface, and ensured every detail reflected the brand’s heritage of quality and warmth.
The Outcome
The AR recipe book brought Smithfield’s products into a new dimension — one where every package became a gateway to inspiration. The experience created a stronger connection between the brand and consumers, turning everyday meal prep into an immersive, luxury-driven ritual.
